Overview
We Energies Foundation is dedicated to fostering community growth and well-being across Green Bay and other areas served by WEC Energy Group. The foundation supports a variety of initiatives, including community and neighborhood development, health and human services, arts and culture, education, and environmental efforts.
In 2024, the foundation donated $11.5 million to nonprofit organizations, helping to strengthen programs and projects that benefit local residents. Funding primarily targets 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations within the company27s service area. Eligible projects include specific programs rather than general operating expenses, with preference given to new or targeted community-oriented undertakings.
Grant Opportunities and Programs
We Energies Foundation Grants: Applications are accepted quarterly (Jan. 31, April 30, July 31, Oct. 31). Organizations may receive funding once per calendar year.
Rewarding Responders Grant: Provides grants up to $2,000 to public safety response agencies for equipment and professional development. Annual deadline is June 15.
Matching Gifts Program: Provides matching donations by active and retired employees to eligible nonprofits.
Daughters and Sons Scholarships: Offers educational scholarships to children of eligible employees and retirees.
Application Process and Eligibility
Nonprofit organizations must meet eligibility criteria, including IRS tax-exempt status and location within the served communities. Applications are reviewed within 90 days following each deadline, and applicants are notified by email regarding the outcome and grant amounts. A new applicant portal will be introduced by the end of the year to streamline the application process.
